Opportunities and Challenges of Rural entrepreneurship in India

Abstract

ABSTRACT:
Rural Entrepreneurship has been emerged as a dynamic concept. India is a country of villages. About three-fourth of India’s population are living in rural areas out of which 75% of the labour force still earning their livelihood from agriculture and allied activities. Land being limited is unable to absorb the labour force in agriculture. Therefore, there is a need to develop rural industries to solve rural unemployment and rural migration to cities. This paper makes an attempt to study the role and importance of rural entrepreneurs in economic development and the opportunities for rural entrepreneurs in India. It also focus on the major challenges of rural entrepreneurship in India, the remedial measures to solve the problems faced by rural entrepreneurs and to provide suitable suggestions for the development of rural entrepreneurship in India.
